Project ID: FCSR25
Principal Investigator: G. Thomas Watters
Project Overview: Freshwater mussels are the most endangered group of animals in North America. There is a need to monitor their populations, verify field identifications, and track their status using a geo-referenced database. The maintenance of such a database requires a considerable amount of labor and expertise to process new material, including cleaning, identification, locality verification, georeferencing, accession into collection, and updating existing on line databases and mapping interfaces. This is accomplished by a combination of Curator, Collections Manager, and student workers.
