Principal Investigator: Marymegan Daly
Project Overview: Effective management of freshwater fish populations depends on an accurate account of their distribution. The proposed comprehensive geo-referenced database of the distribution of fish in Ohio to supports two related efforts: it provides taxonomic resources for fishes collected or assayed in statewide surveys and develops a database for the distribution of these specimens in Ohio. Accomplishing these goals entails compiling geo-referenced and verified data sources for freshwater fish in Ohio from state, university, and private sources, and geo-referencing some critical voucher samples. The database and vouchers will be used to identify gaps in geographic and taxonomic sampling, and to prioritize future sampling efforts.
